replacing worn parts, and adjusting and cleaning all parts as needed. Such daily maintenance is quite easily performed and sometimes is considered to be of less importance than it actually is. However, it should be kept in mind that it is a vital part of maintaining the operational conditions of the machines involved.
(b) It is imperative to repair a part before it deteriorates to the point where it causes a breakdown.
After thoroughly investigating and determining the degree of deterioration that has taken place, it is important to decide on a schedule for periodic inspections, repair methods, judgement standards and maintenance procedures.
(c) Collection of maintenance data and effective maintenance procedures.
In order to limit the amount of deterioration that takes place and create a maintenance method that is practical and easy to apply, it is important to collect and analyze maintenance data and relay it to the planning and design sections in order that the machine can be improved and maintenance methods rationalized. Fig. 1-2 is a display of the above process.
